Continue to Azuri's Journey To Health

Welcome to my page, Journey to Health; a page where I will document my journey back to health.

I don't believe that anyone on here knew me when I was a teenager, and therefore I will fill you in. I was in very good shape as a teenager, through semi good eating and plenty of exercise. Over the last couple of years (ages 22-25) I have let those times slip further and further away. This is through my own lack of effort, and nothing else. I weighed myself today (July 12th) and the scales said 178lbs, that is 178lbs for a man of about 5'8. That is overweight, which got me to thinking about getting back in shape. However that was not enough for me, I wanted to get back into shape, yes. I also wanted to do it making a point, I want to highlight the potential of the human body, to show how we are blessed with something capable of miraculous things.

Now, I shall fill you in on how this Wiki is to operate.

1. I shall post pictures of myself (non-naked) every few days, which will provide visuals of my progress. The pictures will come with a short 'diary' entry, describing what I have done that day and my feelings about the project in general.

2. My wife and I have discussed this, she is completely comfortable with these pictures and so am I. However I feel compelled to state this anyway, these pictures are not soft core porn and childish comments are really counter productive to what I am trying to create.

3. Comments are welcome, I am aware of the bad state of my body in the first picture, and observations will not hurt my feelings. I am doing this for two reasons (1) to better my health and (2) to set an example to anyone who has had issues with weight loss and has felt that it will never get better.

I can better my health, you can better your health, we can all do it. Please join me in my journey and never lose faith.

Peace, love and empathy.
Scott Robinson.

Day 1

<img150*0:http://elftown.eu/img/photo/150384_1215915251.jpg><img150*0:http://elftown.eu/img/photo/150384_1215915233.jpg>

So, this is day 1 (July 12th, 2008) and you can see that I am a run of the mill gentleman, somewhat overweight, flabby in the wrong areas and in possession of a few curves.

My weight is 178lbs.

I went to the gym today, cycled for a few miles, ran for a mile, worked with some weights and finished up with a swim and then relaxed my muscles in a hot tub. This is day 1, so I am feeling fine about the effort, and suffering no problems of complaints.

The journey continues tomorrow,
Keep moving forward,
Scott.

Days 2-10
Days 11-20
Days 21-30

Day 33

So, my updates have become a slightly more sketchy, on a regular basis and this will probably continue. With the lack of the laptop and my progress only needing an update every few days I have decided every 2-4 days is sufficient. Today was a very good work out evening, where I did 10 miles on the cycle (with my wife, of course). I then did the weights and then sauna/swim.

A couple of notes.

My bicep weight curling has went up 20lbs in these 33 days.
My chest pressing has went up about 40lbs.
My stamina to do this has improved all round.
I am attempting to tone my body, and is a work in progress.
The sauna has been introduced as a means to supplement the cardio.

I do hope the changes and shake up of routines help to keep my body guessing and aide it in improving.

Side note- My wife is still making progress, and this is a great source of pride for me. She is a second example that our bodies work with us when we give them reason. ^_^

Question for anyone reading....What do you consider 'physical health'?

Keep moving forward.
Scott.

2008-07-13 [Azuri]: Youll be surprised how fast you change. My husband started to do this same thing (only he was bulking up from 110lbs O.O) and saw results in 2 weeks, it was actually kind of amazing but I wish you luck :)

2008-07-13 [xenocentric]: Oh yes, I am aware of how quickly the human body can change. That is one of the reasons for putting the project on ET. I want to show people this, giving those who might be discouraged something to keep them going when they feel improving their body, and losing weight, is impossible. ^_^

2008-07-13 [Azuri]: Good deal :) If you want to do the picture thing, they actually suggest you do it every two weeks instead of everyday or you wont notice the difference and become discouraged in the end.

2008-07-13 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: Oh cool. I should show this to my husband. He's put on a few pounds, and he used to be in really great shape. Of course, it would also help if I started baking foods, instead of frying... ._.

2008-07-13 [xenocentric]: Azuri, I was considering doing it every couple of weeks but I decided to dot it everyday so, in the end, the progression could be seen, almost like a slideshow. I am not really one to get discouraged, but I know a lot of people do. I really, really hope that people can see that the human body can do anything when we give it what it needs.

Tenshi- Heh, the food is half of what got me. I took my body for granted and ate whatever I wanted. My aim is to surpass the shape I was in at my peak, which will be very, very hard to say the least.

My primary message will also be to offer inspiration to people who can get very depressed by attempting to lose weight. Please pass on this journey if you feel it might be a help to anyone. ^_^

2008-07-13 [Azuri]: Well if it seems in the end that you cant see much of much Id switch to the every two week thing. I'm about to do the whole diet and exercise thing as well so maybe Ill take a page from your book and post it on ET as well.

2008-07-13 [xenocentric]: I shall keep that in mind, if nothing seems to alter then I will consider the time frame between pictures. Good luck on your diet, and feel free to join the journey. ^_^.

I shall be posting what I do each day, along with a picture.

2008-07-13 [End of Eternity]: This is a really great idea! I love it! Good luck!

2008-07-13 [xenocentric]: Thank you very much, feel free to check back and inform anyone who might find the wiki useful.

2008-07-13 [Galatea]: I'm thinking maybe you should officially invite others to join in with you...maybe those brave enough might even post their progress as well?

2008-07-13 [xenocentric]: Of course, my love. I welcome anyone to join in and post their progress.

2008-07-14 [Azuri]: Ill totally be the first to join up then :)

2008-07-14 [xenocentric]: You may have seen day two's pictures today, I have decided that I shall only be putting up pictures every few days to avoid having to create a great deal of Wiki's. I am now to delete the pictures from day 2, and shall upload new pictures at day 4.

Scott.

2008-07-14 [Galatea]: You and me babe! You and me, we can do this! :D And the good part is that I still live close enough to you to come and get you if you don't. ;) Just kidding darlin. :D

2008-07-14 [xenocentric]: Everyone can do it, I really do hope that everyone will join me. The human body can be amazing. ^_^

2008-07-14 [Azuri]: Haha I think you forget I moved to Florida XD I shall take my first pictures tomorrow as its my day to weigh then anyway ^_^

2008-07-14 [Galatea]: Still close enough! :D How is everything down there?

2008-07-14 [Azuri]: Good :D I managed to get to 266lbs <3

2008-07-15 [EnigmaXero]: I hope to wish all those who participate in this well, and good luck. ^^
It seems like a really good idea, and I shall keep up with the journey as well. Maybe I'll get motivated to go out and take walks every day.

2008-07-15 [Galatea]: Thats great news!! :D It would be wonderful if you got some nice walks in, but you know, no pressure. :)

2008-07-15 [EnigmaXero]: no pressure, eh?
I just don't trust people easily, even if I am in a small town. Maybe start small...around the block...that sort of thing...^^;

2008-07-15 [Galatea]: I think thats a good idea...I know what you mean about not trusting...I usually feel the same way, even after living in one place after a while. I didn't get to go to the gym tonight because of a small mix-up but I am hoping to go tomorrow. I am going to do some sit-ups tonight. :)

2008-07-15 [EnigmaXero]: ^^
Good luck. :D

2008-07-15 [xenocentric]: Well done everyone, and thank you for watching the journey. I shall post the second set of pictures tomorrow.

2008-07-15 [Azuri]: Me and my roommate Ellen go for walks almost every day. Usually we do the short one, which I don't know how long it is but yesterday we did the big one and I know that just about 4 miles all together O.O

2008-07-16 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: =O! Looks like you're suckin' in, in the second picture Scott! XD Either that, or you've lost a pound ^^;

2008-07-16 [Galatea]: He's lost 3!!! >_< DAMN MEN! I am actually very proud of him but it sucks that he can lose weight that fast. :D I told him that in all his pictures he needs to hold his shoulders slightly back and not hunch.

2008-07-16 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: Oooh, okay. Yeah, he does look like he is standing straighter. I wanna loose weight all faaast.

2008-07-16 [Galatea]: It might be harder for you to loose weight because you are so thin already...

2008-07-16 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: O_O! I'm... okay, I'm not fat, but I have pudge! *pokes belly and watches it ripple* I wanna have a flat belly instead of a muffin top >=O!

2008-07-16 [Galatea]: *hugs* But you are so cute!!! I know what you mean though, and you know you have my full encouragement if you want to start exercising with us. I honestly haven't been doing so well about it lately but I hope to go to the gym tonight. I want to get rid of that tire around my midsection! :D

2008-07-16 [EnigmaXero]: I Agree with Tenshi about the flat belly! T.T

2008-07-16 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: LOL! Tire? XDD! I'm sorry that made me giggle. *huggles back* And how is that cute? My flubber hanging out over my britches? And you don't have a tire. >=(

2008-07-16 [Galatea]: I know and I hate doing sit-ups. I think if I got back into swimming though that I might loose some weight. Swimming is so good for us, low impact and it works the whole body.

2008-07-16 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: I looove to swim. XD

2008-07-16 [Galatea]: See, that would be easy for you then! :D I guess the hard part is finding some place to swim.

2008-07-16 [EnigmaXero]: I think for us, it's getting there...XD
A freakin tire...o.o
Maan. DX
Must be a little bike tire or something. ^.^

2008-07-16 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: I could go jump in the river. But I might grow an extra arm or something... poullted... x_x wtf is a poullted? Polluted* >=(

2008-07-16 [Galatea]: The tire went out on the car?

2008-07-16 [EnigmaXero]: no...neither her nor I can drive yet. DX so we don't really have a way to get to the pool...
Wherever it is.o .o

2008-07-16 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: No no. She was talking about when you said you had a tire...

2008-07-16 [Galatea]: LMAO, I am such a dope...no darlin its a big frickin tire...like one you would find on a dually truck. :D The one good thing about it is that I can bump people out of the way with it. Well at least only one person has asked me if I was pregnant...

Is there something other than the polluted river where you could swim?

2008-07-16 [EnigmaXero]: There's a public pool somewhere. But like I said, getting there is an issue. XD

Oh...And you've seen me...I've had one girl in school ask me if I were pregnant. O.o I mean, seriously. DX

But no...it was my fault for not clarifying what exactly I meant. x.x

2008-07-16 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: OMG NO Teatea! >=O! (omg, where'd I come up with Teatea? XD)

I've never had anyone ask me if I was pregnant, probablt because I look like I'm 12, instead of 22.

2008-07-16 [Galatea]: LOL, well that shouldn't stop people...come on Tenshi, we live in the south! All us girls should be preggers and barefoot by 13.

Ugh, I hate when there is no reliable public transportation. A good swim once or twice a week would do wonders for the body! Plus its fun. :D

So now its Teatea? LOL

2008-07-16 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: Wow, this is actually an amazing wiki. I have a tredmill now because I decided I needed to get healthier. Sadly, I can only walk so far. I've pulled a hamstring, so I've been having to stretch and stretch the muscle. x.x I'm hoping it gets better soon. Before I pulled my muscle, I walked at least a mile. (I'm over 250, so that's a lot for me. xD)

But anyways! I wish you success in your journey!

2008-07-16 [Galatea]: Oh those pulled hamstrings are terrible! *sympathizes* If you ever need any encouragement or just someone to talk to about it, thats what we are here for!

2008-07-16 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: Oh, geez. I know, lol. My doctor said it could take up to 2 years for it to be healed.

This wiki is encouraging on it's own. =D

2008-07-16 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: I know it. *piece of straw in mouth* My baby's daddy is my brother Billy.

Yup, Teatea. >xD!

2008-07-16 [xenocentric]: Thank you Tynuka for the compliment on the wiki. Also, thank you to everyone who is watching, commenting and taking part.

2008-07-16 [Azuri]: Suckage on the hamstring *shudder* I'm 266 and I walked 4 miles the other day, god that sucked but I usually walk around a mile most days too.

I very much laughed at your description of the south [Galatea] but only because its utterly true for most of the south XD

2008-07-16 [xenocentric]: To hear people say this wiki is encouraging gives me additional motivation to work harder and show visible progress with each set of pictures that I post. Speaking of working hard, it is almost time to go to the gym. I shall post an update this evening, and another set of pictures in a couple of days.

Good luck to anyone looking to begin their own journey.
Keep moving forward,
Scott.

2008-07-16 [Galatea]: Yay, gym time! I am going to go swimming! :D

2008-07-16 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: Lol, have fun you two.

2008-07-17 [Galatea]: My goal today is to do some slow and easy stretches and maybe take a quick walk. Tonight we will go back to the gym. Anyone else have something planned for today?

2008-07-17 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: I'm making tacos. Is that a plan?

2008-07-17 [Galatea]: That can be if you want it to! :D When my grandmother was still alive, she and my mother started a Eaters Anonymous...part of that was to call and tell one of the members or a friend what your food and exercise plan was for that day. That way if you weren't feeling strong enough to keep to it, they could encourage you.  So today Tenshi is making tacos. :D Alexa is going to make a spinach stir-fry for dinner and then going to the gym. Anyone else want to share today? I know it sounds corny but we are here to support each other!

2008-07-17 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: *puffs cheeks* Spinach stir-fry? DX! I looove making chicken stir-fry! That seems to be everyones favourite meal around here. ^.^

Thats a really neat idea, btw. The Eaters Anonymous.

We are going to try and start avoiding caffeine and sugary drinks after 8 at night. Aren't we Aura >=(? It was intentionally so that we can sleep better at night. But, by doing that, it will keep us from storing fat at night, instead of burning it ^^ Plus when we wake up in the mornings, we will feel a lot better.

2008-07-17 [Galatea]: I think I might join you in that last one. I try really hard but sometimes I just can't resist that one last cup of coffee. X_x

What do you put in your chicken stir-fry...I love a good stir-fry! :D

2008-07-17 [Azuri]: Just nix the caffeine all together, I cant tell you how much better I feel now that I only drink water and only soda once in a blue moon.

2008-07-17 [Galatea]: I have tried doing half decaf and have caf. coffee and I really like it...I don't get an upset tummy. :) I try to lay off the soda most of the time and drink lots of water like you said.

2008-07-18 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: EWW coffee. I like my sweet tea ^^

Well, I dunno if I should list it all here, but I PM you :D

2008-07-18 [Galatea]: Sounds good to me. I just back from the gym...I feel so wobbly and weak...but no gain without pain.

2008-07-18 [Ramirez]: I don't know if this has already been mentioned, but I think that if you own a Wii, you should definitely invest your money in the Wii Fit. It's amazingly fun and it has all kinds of great exercises for balance and strength and even jogging and what not. The fact that it has a personal trainer that actually knows when you're doing things right or wrong is really helpful. And it has all kinds of different work out techniques on it, and monitors your weight gain/loss, your balance and all kinds of stuff. It's really neat. =3

Keep up the good work. =D

2008-07-18 [Galatea]: Good mention my friend, as of this time we do not own a Wii, though we will be moving in with family that does sometime near the end of this year. It may be wise to invest in a Wii Fit, it sounds like alot of fun! Thanks for the encouragement and good advice!

2008-07-18 [Ramirez]: You're welcome. Keep it up. =D

2008-07-18 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: My dad almost bought that Wii Fit thing. We need a Wii first, <<. So, we're gunna save up for that. I have a job interview at Wal Mart, so if I get it, we get like, 10% off. yay, free tax.

But, my family stopped drinking and eating bad things after 8, thing. If we do have something, it's like a few cookies and milk.. which is like, rare. And I've talked to my doctor about losing weight, he said we were guna move really slow on it. He said do the mile thing, plus, drink Diet Cokes instead of regular. He said you could lose 30 pounds in a year just by doing that.

2008-07-18 [Galatea]: Good, I am glad he said to take it slow because sometimes they want to push too much too fast. :)

2008-07-18 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: I had a friend do that stomach ring thing. He lost close to 100 pounds, but he never exercised, so he's not that big anymore, but he's still got all the extra stuff..

I almost thought about it, but with exercise. But, then I remembered him saying he had to blend all his food together.. and that sounds ..yummy.. -twitch-

2008-07-18 [Galatea]: Ugh...yeah I don't think that would be the option for me. I guess if you were grossly obese and needed a radical way to loose weight immediately. I know someone who did it and was successful but she exercised too.

2008-07-18 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: That's great to hear! The risk if it coming undone scares me.

2008-07-18 [Galatea]: Yeah, that is a frightening thought.

2008-07-18 [Galatea]: I was a little worried about missing my workout today, (we are going to see Batman tonight!! :D) So I've taken the opportunity to turn my radio up really loud and dance like crazy all day! The neighbors are probably going crazy but you can't get better cardio than dancing! *shakes booty*

2008-07-18 [EnigmaXero]: XD!
That's always a good thing. I'd turn my music on, if I weren't watching a movie. Or trying to watch one. O.o It keeps freezing. *fists*

2008-07-18 [Easterling]: Dancing crazily is a really good way to get some exercising and fun at the same time! :)

It's a good wiki, Scott. You're encouraging others to take care of their own bodies! (hrrm.. thinking of the last time I went to an hour of workout for example..)

2008-07-18 [Galatea]: Gah, I hate when they do that! >_<

2008-07-18 [Easterling]: Do what? Take care of their bodies?

2008-07-18 [Galatea]: hehe, no that was for Aura about the movie freezing, sorry. :)

I think it is a good thing to encourage people to share how they are trying to be fit. I think that alone it is an incredibly hard task, but with friends that just makes it that little bit easier. I think I might even start a side page off of this one, available only to my friends with my own pictures. I hate taking photos because of my size.

2008-07-18 [Easterling]: Ah, now I saw that! X)

It's great to have a wiki to discuss things like this. That helps a lot, too. I feel a little inspired anyway. :)

2008-07-18 [Galatea]: Good, I am glad to hear that! I think that was Scott's purpose all along. I know that it has helped me so much that I have all of you looking over my shoulder, that keeps me motivated.

2008-07-18 [Blood Sucking Beauty]: i excersize...only a bit tho. im shocked im still as tiny as i am with all that i eat and what little excersizing i do. but my way of staying fit is the three flights of stairs i walk to get to my apartment(leme tell ya...its a hard task when doing it so much) and walking through my GINORMOUS school(look up North Penn High School on google to see its size) and occasionally playing DDR.
Its shocking how good of a workout DDR(dance dance revolution) is. Its an awesome game and a GREAT workout.

2008-07-18 [EnigmaXero]: It is, when you have the pads to play it on, and when you don't have neighbors below you that would kill you.
Tenshi and I would play it like that, if only we had the mats.
And of course, if the people downstairs wouldn't kill us. :D

2008-07-18 [Blood Sucking Beauty]: hahaha well i have downstairs neighbors. thats why i dont play it that often. They get annoyed and slam the back end of a broom handle or sumin into the roof and bang. one of these days they are guna bust a whole in the ceiling n ima LAUGH! i get so annoyed with my neighbors. i had my bro over before and they have a kid. The neighbors came upstairs to complain there was too much jumping and then they reported it to the management that there was a three year old in the apartment jumping around too much. IT WAS A HOLIDAY I MEAN COME-ON! haha but back to the topic. yea DDR truly works wonders. it even has a workout program on it. ^.^

2008-07-18 [Easterling]: I have a hard time to understand people who can't oversee with children making sounds and jumping around. It can't be that annoying! People like that are just looking for things to complain about.

2008-07-18 [Draugur dauðans]: I rather hope that you do well with your journey. Myself, I'm on a similar Journey at 18. 18 no less!

2008-07-18 [Galatea]: I agree with you [Easterling], kids are kids and as long as they aren't screaming at the tops of their lungs or breaking things, let them play...its good for them.

[Blood Sucking Beauty] be very thankful for that body while you have it! :) I hope that you continue to have it for many years to come. Unfortunately that old rumor about hitting your 20s seems to be pretty true, it becomes harder and harder to keep the weight off.

[Draugur dauðans] good luck and if you ever need any help or support, that is what we are here for!

2008-07-18 [xenocentric]: Welcome everyone new to this wiki. It seems there have been a lolt of comments while I was at work today. Easterling, I am glad this has acted as a starting point of inspiration (that is a great deal of the reason I created this wiki). I am working hard each day, so that people can see the physical change in my body, and the discussion can hopefully offer group support for anyone wishing to improve their body.

2008-07-19 [Maeve104]: This is a good thing you've got here, not only for yourself but for other people who want to know that it's possible to lose weight if you perservere. My dad always goes on diets but then gives up after a few weeks. It's not so much a "diet" as a change in what you do everyday that makes you a healthier person.

2008-07-19 [xenocentric]: I agree with you Maeve, I have made this something of a lifestyle in what I do, assisted by what I choose to eat. I want people to find encouragement from this and see that things are possible as long as you just keep moving forward.

2008-07-19 [Blood Sucking Beauty]: hehe i guess that means that ima blow up in two years. haha i don't exactly eat the healthiest of foods and i highly doubt college will help me on that aspect. I guess i should change that huh or else i most likely will blow up. and i really am greatful for my body although for my height im technically overweight O.o im 18 years old and the height of a 10 year old....its such a bummer but ya no. i just guta keep an eye on my weight according to my height.

2008-07-19 [xenocentric]: I think the body does undergo somewhat of a slowdown once you get to about 21 or so, but it is not impossible to keep in shape. I think we just get into a bit of a habit, and accept it somewhat.

2008-07-19 [End of Eternity]: Well I have to say you have all imspired me. I'm only 17, but I don't want to get out of shape as my life begins to change and I start uni and grow up. I work as a lifeguard at my local pool, and this gives me free membership to the pool and gym, so I'm going to take full advantage of this as soon as I've had a gym induction and bought a new swimming costume! I am aiming to go to the gym at least once a week and swim at least three times. I know it's not as much as many of the rest of you, but it will hopefully keep me in shape! Thanks for the inspiration!

2008-07-19 [xenocentric]: I am so happy that another person has found inspiration from this. Best of luck to you and feel free to keep in contact with this wiki.

2008-07-19 [Teufelsweib]: [xenocentric], this is really amazing. first of all, respect that you dare to show the progress like this on a wiki here as inspiration for other people to keep a more closer eye on their health.
second, and most important, that you're doing such a great job concentrating on your health so much. your body is your temple, and it's so easy in nowadays society to neglect it...
really, much respect to you! :)

2008-07-19 [xenocentric]: Slavork, thank you very much for the respect and the comments on the wiki. I shall continue to post my progress (in fact tonight will be another picture) and encourage others to take something from this ^_^

2008-07-19 [End of Eternity]: I completely agree with [Teufelsweib] - you're doing a fantastic job [xenocentric]! Just make sure you keep that moral high! You're a fantastic example to the rest of us!

2008-07-19 [xenocentric]: Thank you very much, I shall keep plugging away in the hope my body can show others anything is possible.

2008-07-21 [Galatea]: Another day down...went swimming yesterday after work, felt nice though I haven't seen any changes in my body yet.

2008-07-21 [Azuri]: Its hard to see changes unless you take pictures, I suggest maybe taking them every two weeks and perhaps getting a scale like I have because it can track the weight of two people, its awesome and I lost another 2lbs <3

2008-07-21 [Galatea]: You're right, I need to start that up...congratulations on losing two pounds!!! :D

2008-07-21 [Azuri]: ^_^ Thanks since we moved here I've lost 13lbs and all I've been doing is working, walking and eating decently.

2008-07-21 [Galatea]: Wow! O_O That is awesome! :D No offense [xenocentric] but I have found my role-model. ^_~ Though I am really proud of Scott, so far he has lost almost 10 lbs since he started this!

2008-07-21 [Azuri]: Wow thats really good, I know Id loose more if I actually exercised, we are probably joining a gym and there are a lot of classes I want to attend there like yoga, Pilaties and the ones the focus on certain parts of the body.

2008-07-21 [End of Eternity]: I would love to do yoga or something similar! Not only is it a fantastic workout, but it's great for improving many aspects of your health too!

2008-07-21 [Ramirez]: Yes, yoga is great for relaxation and improving your balance, coordination and concentration. Just remember to breathe when doing it. XD

2008-07-21 [End of Eternity]: Hahaha! Yes! Always helpful! XD

2008-07-21 [Azuri]: lol yea, I wanna find a place that does Tai Chi, its something I've always wanted to do.

2008-07-22 [Azuri]: On weighing yourself Scott, always do it before you begin your workout. If you do it after you do your work out its always going to be wonky so thats probably why it said the weight it did. I didn't know you were suppose to weigh before you start working out for the longest time.

2008-07-22 [xenocentric]: Thank you for the advice Azuri, I didn't actually know that could cause a big difference. I have been weighing myself before and after workouts and the weight has been somewhat consistent from day to day. I shall weigh myself tomorrow (pre workout) and see what it says, then I will take that as the weight for tomorrow.

2008-07-22 [Maeve104]: Yeah. If you weigh yourself afterwards I think it's a lot of water loss and stuff that makes it a pound or so off. Good job on the sticking with it and working out the muscle cramps and stuff though. I would've just been like "uuuuuuugh. I need a break. >.<"

2008-07-22 [xenocentric]: Yeah, that water weight makes sense. I shall try and gain a completely accurate reading tomorrow evening and see what it says. I was at that uuuugh moment, but I knew that not doing it would only hinder me down the line.

2008-07-22 [Azuri]: weighing yourself on different days of the week also effects it, I weigh myself every Monday in the morning. I don't think it effects it too horribly but still slightly

2008-07-22 [Galatea]: I remember being told something similar, about which times of the day are best to weigh yourself (again morning is the consensus). I have issues weighing myself because I get obsessed with it, so right now I am trying the clothing fit method. So far my jeans are fitting better and I am back down to the second notch on my belt and not the first! :D

2008-07-22 [Azuri]: I so just hide my scale, out of sight out of mind.

2008-07-23 [xenocentric]: As advised, I weighed myself before tonight's workout and the scales claim I am 167lbs. That sounds about right given how my body feels. I don't think I am going to drop all too many more lbs, as it would mean I am being lax on muscle and toning training.

I agree that weigh ins make more sense once a week, I think I have just gotten into the habit of doing it each day....Weird.

2008-07-23 [Maeve104]: Haha. I know what you mean about the routine thing. I play ultimate frisbee after work with some friends usually, and today it was storming so I didn't go. It felt odd being home so early. O_o

2008-07-23 [xenocentric]: Yep, being at home instead of working out would feel rather odd to me now. Tonight I am home, eating and then going to the gym and it really does feel slightly strange.

2008-07-24 [Azuri]: Heh well if you add muscle on or replace your fat with muscle you will indeed weight more in the end than when you began. Lots of people don't understand that muscle weights more than fat does and get frustrated when they start putting on the lbs. Just be careful to loose the fat at the same time(or before) your putting on the muscle or you will look realllly funny. My friend Dustin was doing that for awhile until he realized and fixed his workout routine.

On the midsection, no matter how old you are it will always be the last place you drop weight from. Theres a sort of net that holds the fat in place and its uber hard to make it let go, I know that's not the technical version of it but its the basic. I would suggest getting with a trainer at the gym and see what they say would be best for you to drop specifically that weight. The gym we are joining has a program specifically for it and your but (its named Butts n Guts XD) that I plan to join because I have that issue too.

2008-07-24 [xenocentric]: Yeah, I have made sure to drop the weight first (hence the rather speedy loss of weight in 10 days). I used to be a really good shape and I really do know the dynamics and routines, but it is still frustrating. I guess the most frustrating part is that it takes a little longer now I am slightly older (BooHiss).

If I remember my body I will probably drop to the low 160's before the excess fat is gone, and then I will step up the muscle work once again.

Thanks for the kind words and advice.

^_^

2008-07-24 [Azuri]: Ah yes, the body does become slightly more frustrating as you age *shakes fist*

2008-07-24 [Teufelsweib]: and the worst thing is that when you lose weight, at a certain point it seems to stop. then you're still working out as much, but you won't lose any... or that after a while you somehow start gaining weight again O_o
mostly because your body gets used to the excersize...

2008-07-24 [Azuri]: Well yea, you'll hit a plateau and to beat it you have to switch up your exercise. My husband is trying to gain some muscle weight and has two different routines that he does and switches them every 2 weeks so he doesn't have to deal with the plateau that most people hit losing or gaining weight.

So when you hit the plateau, switch it up or make the exercise go longer than you used to. Say you used to walk for 25 mins make it 30 instead.

2008-07-24 [Galatea]: They also say when you hit that plateau changing your calorie intact can help too...sometimes you may need to eat more (or less) to start burning fat again.

2008-07-24 [Azuri]: Yup.

2008-07-25 [Galatea]: Is it just me or has anyone else been having problems with their wikis today? I couldn't add a file to my art wiki, every time I clicked edit it would go back to the way it was. Anyone have any ideas?

2008-07-25 [Azuri]: Everyone is

2008-07-25 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: YAY! Keep up the good work you two!

2008-07-26 [xenocentric]: Thank you, Tenshi. It is getting easier and my wife really ran her ass off the other night, she just would not let up and I had to work myself hard to keep up with our agreed running schedule ^_^

2008-07-26 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: Whoo! Go Teatea! >3!

2008-07-27 [End of Eternity]: Wow! You can see already the effects all this exercise is having - I jsut compared your first photo to your latest - great work! Keep it up!

2008-07-28 [xenocentric]: Thank you, I have been making sure to work out each day and eat well. It is amazing how the body will work with us when we do that. ^_^

2008-07-29 [XxTsomexX]: You have inspired me to get healthy as well! ^^

2008-07-29 [Rainbow Dragonflies]: Most likely your on-off weight is water weight ;] if you keep a constant intake of water it should keep slightly steady, and if you already do, then your scale just might be crazy.

2008-07-30 [xenocentric]: Tsome- I am so happy that you have found inspiration from this wiki. Bettering ones health is something everyone can do, as long as we make a realistic dedication. Knowing I have offered inspiration keeps me going on those days where it feels somewhat more difficult than usual.

Rainbow- It probably is water weight, and on the day when my weigh was up I had just returned from a weekend of eating heavier than the previous two weeks. It was probably a combination of those two factors, or an insane scale. My weight has been between 166-169 for about 5 days or so now.

2008-07-30 [XxTsomexX]: Yeah, I have been trying to go to the gym at least every other day now... and I already ate healthy before XD

2008-07-31 [xenocentric]: Congratulations, long may you find success in your routine.

2008-07-31 [XxTsomexX]: I hope so XD lol

2008-08-01 [Galatea]: Woohoo! Progress! I lost 3 pounds since a week and a half ago. Makes me very happy..its not much but its a start and a very encouraging one at that!

2008-08-01 [Perplexity]: Hi, I just wanted to say, good for you and I admire your courage to share this with us here. It's really inspirational! Keep up the good work, and I think we are all wanting to see you succeed!

2008-08-01 [xenocentric]: Thank you, Perplexity. It is nice to know there are well wishers and people who take something from this wiki. ^_^

2008-08-01 [Evilmonk]: Very good for you Xeno. I really admire you and your wife's commitment to both your routine, and this wiki. Well done.

2008-08-01 [xenocentric]: Thank you Evilmonk, it is always nice to know that people take notice and offer support.

2008-08-02 [Teufelsweib]: you can see the progress in the last pic very clear. awesome job, keep up! ;D

2008-08-02 [Perplexity]: Now if only [Evilmonk] and I could motivate each other do exercise heheh Of course, he is in no need of weight loss and doubtful I could keep up with his stamina. Though the cigarette smoking might even the playing field slightly. ;)

2008-08-02 [xenocentric]: Thank you Slavork, I can see some progress also, which is a great motivator for people to keep it up.

Perplexity, my wife joins me about 4 days a week and, last night, she pushed me to the point where I was the one to call stop. We run together on the track and I run 2 laps for her 1. We walk a lap and then run and then walk, etc. Well, last night she had me exhausted, I was the one to call the end to the running. It is always nice to have someone work out with you, especially when you can push each other.

2008-08-02 [Easterling]: That's right. I go on (easy) aerobics, but not often by myself - it's great to have a friend to go with, who encourages and make sure to remember it if you "forget". :)

2008-08-03 [xenocentric]: I agree on that one Easterling. I have conditioned myself to go to the gym whatever the circumstances, but it is wonderful to have my wife go with me. Moral support can be offered and you can gauge how each of you are doing in your regime.

2008-08-06 [EnigmaXero]: YAY!!!
Congrats to the both of you for your amazing progress!!
<3
^-^

2008-08-06 [End of Eternity]: Congratualations! You are both making amazing progress! Keep up the great work!

2008-08-06 [Easterling]: *aplauds for the amazing Scott and Alexa*

2008-08-06 [Galatea]: Thank you guys! *hugs*

2008-08-07 [Maeve104]: You two are awesome! ^_^ Keep it up!

2008-08-07 [xenocentric]: Thank you, everyone.

It is nice to have support from many sources. ^_^

2008-08-07 [EnigmaXero]: You're always welcome. ^-^

2008-08-09 [Galatea]: We finally got the Wii Fit set up at my parents house, Oh man is that thing fun! I was so sore last night when I went to bed! The best part is the whole family gets to participate! I woke up this morning to my mother playing it. :D

2008-08-09 [EnigmaXero]: ^.^ That is awesome.

2008-08-09 [Galatea]: Scott is playing it now, trying to beat old scores and open up new games. :D

2008-08-09 [EnigmaXero]: Ooooh. ^.^

2008-08-09 [Perplexity]: A coworker of mine who has Wii Fit said it was a damned hard work out!

2008-08-09 [Galatea]: It really is! I just did the Hula Hoop and nearly passed out! O_o

2008-08-09 [EnigmaXero]: wow.
seems like it'd be a lot of fun, though. ^^

2008-08-09 [Azuri]: I love Wii Fit, I want it so bad!

2008-08-09 [Galatea]: It really is great...I hope this can help me to continue to lose weight even after we move and can no longer go to our gym.

2008-08-10 [Azuri]: According to the game I have the balance of a Yoga trainer, would seem I impressed everyone considering I'm a utter klutz!

2008-08-10 [Galatea]: Lol, yes I know I am the same way...though of course when I do the body check and I play the balance games it usually asks me if I trip alot. LOL

2008-08-10 [Ramirez]: It asks me if I cross my legs when sitting. >> -butts into conversation- But it also calls me a yoga master, and also somehow also tells me my right leg is stupid compared to my left leg. Which makes sense, considering I never took time to rehabilitate my right leg after tearing the tendons in it =P

2008-08-10 [Galatea]: That sucks...it asks us the leg-crossing Q too...I think because that can shift the hips and spine and cause one leg to be slightly longer than the other.

2008-08-10 [Ramirez]: Something like that. I half-pay attention. She repeats herself a lot.

2008-08-10 [Galatea]: I know...of course I work with the guy. :D I like his little pony tail.

Oh foo, bedtime for me, have to get up early, everyone sleep well and have a great night!

2008-08-10 [Azuri]: I lean on my left leg more than my right, it said that was one of the reasons that I might trip alot XD

2008-08-10 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: It wouldn't matter what leg Aura uses, she's always tripping and falling everywhere.

2008-08-10 [EnigmaXero]: T.T

2008-08-10 [Azuri]: Its ok Aura, they used to teasingly call me Grace -_-'

2008-08-10 [EnigmaXero]: XD!
I don't have grace. x.x;
It'd be funny if they would call me that.
But...
I fall without ...falling over anything x.x.

2008-08-10 [Azuri]: Same here, I trip over my own feet, over air, specs of dirt you know XD

2008-08-10 [End of Eternity]: Hmmm... you have all made me realise that me working at a swimming pool was not the greatest career choice considering I tend to fall over/into something at least three times a day...

2008-08-10 [Azuri]: Heh it happens. I've worked almost nothing but food places and I can't cook for shit.

2008-08-11 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: Do I see a 'Farmers Tan'? XD! You're looking great Scott. Even when you don't post anything for a few days, it's at least good to know that you are still working towards your goal.

2008-08-11 [Galatea]: Heheh, oh yes a wonderful farmer's tan...he is so white. Just kidding Scotty! :D

2008-08-11 [xenocentric]: 1. Yes I do have a farmers tan, it seemed the most logical way to be accepted as a southerner.

2. Thank you Tenshi, it is nice to know that the hard work is paying off.

3. Thank you wife, I am pale....but cool.

2008-08-11 [Azuri]: haha psh you don't want to be accepted there, the weirder they think you are the better off you are XD

2008-08-11 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: You're welcome. ^.^! ... Accepted as a southerner? ... I pictured you with at least a British accent... So, wouldn't it be a little harder to be accepted...? Or is that the point of the tan? XD

2008-08-11 [Azuri]: Hah there were so many British people working at my walmart in Warner Robins GA. Its quite common, at least where I was.

2008-08-11 [xenocentric]: I do suppose my accent thwarts my attempts to be truly be accepted as a southerner, maybe I could just sport the tan and smile as my means of communication. It would be interesting to see how long I could keep that up before they noticed that I never actually spoke.

2008-08-11 [EnigmaXero]: LOL!
Well...
I lived in the Eastern part of Tennessee for about two years...and I picked up on their accent almost instantly. DX...Country...
sometimes it's funny to see what happens with interactions. xD!

2008-08-11 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: People might think you're a mute. XD

2008-08-12 [Azuri]: Indeed they might. I've lived in Kentucky for a year and GA for about 2 and I never picked up on the accent. Sometimes I slip and you'll hear me say something southern but not very often.

2008-08-12 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: Oh my. That makes me think. I said something very southern yesterday while my husband was pinching my face. I said, "Dhon't peench mah fayce!" I sounded just like my cousin, who is from Kentucky. I was so embarrassed. But at least my husband stopped pinching me DX!

2008-08-12 [EnigmaXero]: He was too busy laughing. xD

2008-08-12 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: Waah...

2008-08-12 [EnigmaXero]: ^.^!

2008-08-13 [Azuri]: Azuri's Journey To Health Not much there but it is a start :D

2008-08-13 [xenocentric]: Congrats and good luck ^_^

2008-08-13 [Galatea]: Scott, can we add a link from our page to Azuri's?

2008-08-13 [xenocentric]: I believe we can....Shall do it soon.

2008-09-04 [Ariandra]: I consider physical health to be a state of good nutrition and activity levels, rather than a certain weight or body shape. My husband and I are both overweight, but very active. I fix nutritious and health conscious home cooked meals. Even our doctor has declared that we are physically healthy, and that she isn't concerned about our weight. Our cholesterol/blood pressure/triglycerides/blood sugar/etc numbers are good. That being said, we are still concerned about our weight for the reasons of personal appearance, risk factors for future health problems, and because we want to be good examples to our kids. In other words, physical health is not necessarily aligned with a healthy appearance. I have a cousin whose family doesn't eat any vegetables, and they keep junk food and Mountain Dew on hand ALWAYS in their home. She is slender and fit looking, and her husband is muscular and well toned. However, both of them have blood pressure and cholesterol problems. Go figure...no pun intended. ;)
